Richmond's lodging tax moved from 7% to 8%. On a seven-night stay in October that is $22 more.
The city rate changed on the first of July. Combined with the state sales tax the figure on your bill is now 14%, charged on the rent and on the cleaning fee, and we pay all of it over.
We did not drop the nightly rate to hide it and we are not going to pretend the line is ours. On a seven-night October stay it is $22 more than it would have been last summer.

A booking fell through for the third and the tenth. They are back on the calendar at the ordinary summer rate.

The old unit held 82°F on a bad day. The new one holds 78°F and costs us $41 a month more to run.

January and February are quiet and the house does better full at $185 than empty at $265.

Four inches through the alley door. The boiler was fine, the washing machine was not.
